Frequently Asked Questions

Our regular rate is $15 per person for a 1 hour lane reservation (5 minute safety orientation + 55 minutes of throwing). Between 2-6 people can throw on a lane. If you have more than 6 people, you will need to book multiple lanes or consider booking a private event. If you have more than 6 people and need multiple lanes, we will always do our best to keep you close together. You can book a reservation in advance here. We also have lanes available for walk-in.

We have 8 lanes and we make a select number of those available for reserving in advance. The remaining lanes are available for walk-in. It does not mean that when you walk-in you will be guaranteed an immediate lane. A portion of our lanes reset every 30 minutes. So if you plan on walking in, you should be here at least 10 minutes prior to when you want to book a lane. That will give you plenty of time to fill out your waiver, purchase your tickets, and go through our 5 minute safety and training course.

Absolutely! Believe it or not, it’s really easy to do! But to make sure you have a fun and safe experience, every session begins with a training and safety orientation with one of our team members. They will walk you through how best to throw an axe, how to keep score, and some of their personal tips and tricks.

The City of Clayton has a 50/50 ordinance on the books. What that means is that we can not sell more beer than we sell food. If we sell $50 of beer a month, we have to make sure we sell $50 of food. Since we’re not a full fledged restaurant (we’re horrible cooks), all of our beers come with a snack. If you’d like a domestic beer or soda, you get to pick one beer from our domestic selection and a snack for $4. And if you’d like a craft beer, you get to pick one beer from our craft selection and a snack for $5. Sodas and snacks are also available for purchase by themselves. But any beer purchase must be accompanied with one of our snacks.

We want to be up front with you. While we have canned beer available for purchase, the focus of our business is not drinking. We do not have a bar and we have limited seating oriented around our throwing lanes. We are a family run business and our kids are often at our hips. We believe axe throwing is a great recreational activity for friends and family to experience together. Because of that, the focus of our business is on the axe throwing and not on the beer. If anyone chooses to be irresponsible and put our small business at risk, we will ask that person to leave.

It is very safe sport. Combine that with our strictness for not tolerating anything or anyone that acts in an unsafe way, and we believe it is one of the safest sports to participate in. Our lanes are long, have buffers in all directions, and are strictly monitored and supervised by our staff. In our first year of business we had over 200,000 axes thrown and not a single scratch to any of the throwers!

Do you even need to ask? We take our responsibility to be good members in our community seriously. We are not going to allow anyone to mess that up.

We do require everyone who throws to wear closed-toed shoes. Some people find it helpful to wear a loose fitting shirt for a better range of motion when throwing. But besides the closed-toe shoes, you don’t need anything special. Unless you want to wear red flannel for bonus points.

Unfortunately you can’t. Complicated insurance policies and the image of a bunch of people roaming the streets to and from The Admiral with axes make it prohibited.

We are an all ages venue with a few very important caveats. You must be 12 years or older and have the strength and coordination to safely throw an axe as judged by our team members to be a participant in an axe throwing lane. All children under the age of 18 MUST BE under the control of their parent or guardian and have their parent/guardian sign their waiver on their behalf. If your kids impinge upon or jeopardize their safety or the safety of our paying participants, they will be asked to leave. No exceptions. We offer some different options for Birthday Parties and Scouting groups. Please see our Private Events booking page for additional information.

Absolutely. While only 6 people can actively throw on a lane at any given time, we have plenty of space for you to come and watch while hanging out with your friends. Our hunch is that after watching all the fun they’re having, you’ll want to throw on your own sooner rather than later.

Axe throwing sessions begin every half hour (i.e. 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, 3:30, etcetera). Please arrive at least 10 minutes in advance so that you have enough time to fill out a waiver, purchase your tickets for the next available time slot, and receive your new thrower orientation and safety course.

Unfortunately, outside food and drink is not permitted outside of private events. We do have a few small exceptions for private events but we’ll be happy to go over that with you in the private event booking process.

We would love to be a part of your next birthday or holiday party, team building event, or any other private events you’re dreaming up. For these types of events, we are able to cluster multiple lanes together during regular business hours. The Admiral is also open after hours and during non-business hours for larger private parties. These after hour bookings can even include your own personal “Axepert” to help facilitate your group’s experience. The best way to get this information is to fill out the form on our Private Event page so we can get you the information you need.

There are certain minimums required for after hour events but we’d love to open the space up exclusively for your event. The best way to get that conversation going with us is to slide over to our Private Event page and fill out the form giving us an idea of what your needs are. Then we’ll reach back out within 24 hours with the information you need.

If you have booked an appointment in advance and need to cancel for whatever reason, we ask that you let us know at least 24 hours in advance.

We accept all credit, debit cards, and cash. Unfortunately, we do not accept checks.

The last available lane reservations are at 8:00p. We have found that the later it gets, the wilder things get. We don’t like wild. We like tame. Our hours will always be flexible and changing to best fit seasonal traffic. So stay tuned to our Facebook page as we keep that up to date with our current hours and will adjust accordingly.

We will be happy to reschedule it for you for the next available opening. Our goal is not to punish you if something comes up. But with such limited space, we don’t have a lot of flexibility. Our goal is always to get you on an axe lane as quickly as possible once all members of your party have arrived. We just ask you for patience as we find you a lane. Please keep in mind a portion of our lanes reset at 30 minutes so the best bet is always to be prepared to arrive at least 10 minutes in advance so that you are guaranteed your spot at the time you requested.

Our entrance is located in Wilson Alley which is the alley that parallels Main Street. This is the little road that runs next to Dollar Tree, behind Wander North Georgia and Fortify.
